Washington county Utah has been known for its over worked public defenders for years. To get any time at all with a court appointed defense attorney in southern Utah, your lawyer has to spend extra time at work without getting paid. To actually get the representation assured by the Constitution, your criminal defense attorney actually has to volunteer his or her own time and work. And still, it's an uphill battle.

Public defenders rarely subpoena witnesses.
There are some motions and features of the criminal justice system that will never be enjoyed by someone who requires a public defender, especially in Utah.
Utah court appointed criminal defense attorneys never subpoena witnesses for the defense, expert witnesses of hire investigators. They collectively share a set budget for those kinds of things and they only work with the state's evidence. So just because a public defense lawyer has lost a few cases, doesn't mean they won't prevail as a paid attorney. If they work hard as a public defender, they will do the same as hired council. As hired council, their hands become untied.

Lawyers can't buy their way out of this: Find the fakes!
Have you ever notice how when you go to search for some attorneys, there is 100 listings all saying something positive about that attorney? This is not an accident or a random thing. Lawyers who have had too many bad reviews do this to drown the bad complaints with fake listings to try to bury the truth.
How to see the difference:
If you have been injured by a crappy attorney, this can be frustration, because legally you are nearly helpless against them. So beware of listings without all the information. They will be missing phone numbers most of the time or even show a fake phone number. This is to use a search term vacuums in some other part of the world, to create a listings that shows higher in the search engines. LawyersRatingsReviews.com is here to fight those black-hat shenanigans. Flooding add-space with fake positive reviews kind of sums up the problem with that individual attorney anyway. The problem is, people don't know this and those good folks who need a lawyer the most, get the worse kind of attorney--a dishonest one.
